Who We Are
Judi and David Schumacher founded Schumacher Companies in 2008 on the premise that they could apply their own experiences to deliver a better business model to the marketplace. They set out to establish a commercial construction business with the highest moral standards in the industry. In just a short period of time, the company developed an impressive list of clients and completed projects, highly driven by referrals. In addition, they developed a team of partners and subcontractors who share their same core values and complement their more than 50 years of combined experience and expertise in every phase of the construction industry.
We approach every client and project with an attitude of kindness, collaboration and passion. Because isn’t that how you want to be treated?
Open Book Policy
How can you believe in your contractor if you don’t have complete and utter transparency throughout the building process? Our Open Book Policy is more than a policy… it’s our covenant. We do not mark up what our subs charge us, and you’ll know this because we’ll show you the exact bids at every phase of a project. Earning your trust is a non-negotiable commitment.
Value Engineering is a methodology that was actually developed by GE during World War II because of shortages in materials but high demand in construction. Companies were forced to find alternatives that still provided function and value. Today, we apply this methodology during pre-construction, when we analyze the project and look for ways to save money. Because once the shovel hits the dirt, it’s much more difficult to save money… and time.
Schumacher Companies embraces and espouses “Efficient Construction” – achieving maximum productivity with minimum wasted effort or expense. Isn’t that what we all want? Efficient Construction is absolutely the best, most-cost effective method for getting the results you envision for your building project. Most people think that the design/bid/ build process of hiring an architect first and then bidding out the project with multiple contractors will get them the best price. This is just NOT true. Efficient Construction brings all parties involved in the construction process together in the very beginning: you, the architect, engineers, the general contractor and sometimes the trade contractors. Upon conception of the project, we all work together to plan, price, design, schedule and complete construction. The end result is a project that meets your requirements, cost parameters and vision!
Owner and co-founder of Schumacher Companies, Judi has been working in the construction industry since 1994. She works closely with clients during the pre-construction phase to ensure that all parties completely understand the vision and scope of work required to complete the project. Judi has been an entrepreneur and leader her entire career, including owning travel agencies and running Chambers of Commerce. Prior to launching Schumacher Companies, she established herself in the highly male-dominated construction industry by heading the Collier Building Industry Association and leading the charge for growth at another large construction company. Judi’s passion for helping others and leading by example has been expressed through her extensive charitable work and community involvement.
David Schumacher, owner and co-founder, is a licensed General Contractor, who began his career in construction more than 40 years ago. As a vice president for Crossgates, a commercial, residential and real estate developer, general contractor and property management firm in Pennsylvania, he gained years of critical development and construction experience. David’s building expertise is on the operations side of the business, overseeing the construction projects. He brings his knowledge of the industry, close connections with subcontractors and insight regarding best construction practices, to every project.
Strong relationships with our subcontractors are crucial to our business and to the success of your project. We take pride in knowing our team is among the best in the industry. They are highly skilled, fairly priced and loyal to our company. And remember, you will know exactly what they are charging because of our Open Book Policy.
Community Involvement and Philanthropy
The Most Important Thing We Give is Our Hearts
Giving back to the community is just as important as what we give to our projects. We believe that our volunteer and philanthropic contributions impact the quality of life for all of us. And, quite simply, we do it because it’s the right thing to do!
